After running the Ontario economy into the ground now Economic Development Minister Michael Bryant is resigning.

I'm no fan of McGuinty, but to blame him on Ontario's current economic situation is a little bit of a stretch. There isn't one politician in this
county that you can point the finger at, and if you do, then you're giving them way too much credit as a world wide player. Every nation is feeling this,
not just us.
Hats for bats. Keep bats warm. Gracias.

...well when you're spending $30 billion more than Ernie Eves did his last year in office, I don't give him much credit for anything in terms of fiscal
probity...I guess Bryant figures that he won't be sticking around for another five years of Dalton....

Elvid is big on "fiscal probity" except when it comes to spending money. He likes these multi-billion dollar transit plans for Toronto that McGuinty
has which are totally expensive. If you want to save somewhere that's a start. Elvid thinks they're super cool.

Bryant should be tried as a war criminal, his law to ban and exterminate pit bulls is a modern canine genocide.

Michael Brant was once considered a smart young political lawyer. He's probably a McGuinty flunkey by now.

....Bruce, if we're going to have 15 to 20 million people in the GTA by the time you're an old man in 2050, we're going to need lots more
supertransit as call it....get ready to dig into your pockets....
...the "do-nothing" approach by Toronto mayors post-Sewell until Miller was pretty horrendous....coasted on the post war generation's iniatives from 1975 on..... |

...this really sucks. I used to stay up late and watch Queen's Park TVO just to see Michael Bryant admonish Harris & Eves when he was in opposition.
The guy was ultra-partisan but very effective with the dramatic pause. It was almost "B movie-like". I pegged him the "William Shatner of
Canadian Politics". I'd even thought of making a whole techno-tape collage of Bryant's rants. Well, here's one Tory who'll miss him.
...everyone else was watchin' Leno, Conan, etc. Not ~DP...it was all Bryant. |

Things don't look good for S.S. Harper either. Conservative staffers are stocking up on large paper envelopes to mail their resumes and if they're
lucky have money stuffed into them by corrupt German arms salesmen.

A Toronto of 20 million? I do believe the jobs level in the 416 is down rather than up. And the deisel bus system works. The cost per ride for the Vaughan
subway will be something like $10 in subsidies and that is not affordable. These things are well known and easy to understand.

....immigration levels of around 500,000 over the past few years if you include refugees, students and temporary workers, most of whom will stay in
Canada...40% who will likely head to the GTA....2,000,000 more people each decade plus some natural level of growth through births...15 to 20 million people is
far off for a population figure for the GTA by 2050....
.....by the way, bruce, I saw the Star mention that employment numbers had not increased since 1989 in the 416 area....another interesting factoid was that uemployment have taken seven years to return to their pre-recession levels during the 1980 and 1990 recessions....not good news for this recession... |

These mega cities like New York and Los Angelis are expensive to live in and cities should not be allowed to become that large. The child poverty rate has gone
up with the growth of Toronto and is 31.7% as of the 2006 census in the 416. Growth is not working. You can legislate a high minimum wage for the city area and
growth would be curtailed. Bringing in all these immigrants to Toronto is backwards.

Poverty in Toronto is defined by
"# of families unable to afford iPods" divided by "# of families able to afford below gound swimming pools" x 1000% |
