Geez Elvid, you're a lot friskier at predicting the future than I am, head bashing and machinery smashing? More likely, in a crash, Canada would pursue some kind of model along the Chavez line, veterans of these forums certainly know there's enough Canuck voters who are that dumb, every Canadian journalist's dream come true - government jobs for life preaching propaganda in the state-run media - as for the rest of us, a socialist police state, the only head bashing and machinery smashing will be government sanctioned. I don't see a crash coming, just slow major changes and increased poverty. It's going to be traumatic but unlikely to be a crash.

The 1930s US and Canada were a different world, maybe half the population we have now, half that population in small towns and on family farms. A great depression-style "crash" today, with millions of desperate urbanites roaming the city streets, will get real peaceful when they get hungry. They'll shut the fcuk up, do as they're told, and go stand in line at the food bank, if they want to live out the month. I don't think most people realize the complex and delicate system that keeps such enormously unnatural clusters of humanoids alive, it all runs on oil, oxen and horses just don't have what it takes anymore...
