Recently watched To Live and Die in L.A. -- messed with my mind. Very intense, and more complex than action/cop movies are usually allowed to be. Also starring W. Peterson.

Then went on a bit of a Friedkin kick. I had never heard of 'Sorceror' before ... Roy Schieder and co. try to transport nitroglycerin in rickety trucks over dirt roads in the 3rd world ... insane! But that only gets underway at the halfway point. Much scene-setting and talky characterization before the action gets underway. It must have cost a fortune to make. Only in the 70's! Impossible to imagine this getting made today. Who else has heard of this thing? I read it was a flop. 'Sorceror' is not a very commercially-viable title to pick. The first 20 minutes was all in Spanish, with subtitles. What a weird movie to come out of H'wood.

I now have that gay rough trade one with Pacino ... next on the list.

Manhunter is one of my most-watched movies. Michael Mann can do no wrong. Also have watched The Insider a billion times. Put on Heat just last night .. even tho' it was bed time. Of course I watched the whole thing.
