A couple of years ago my Mom got run over by a Jeep on a rainy night in a parking lot. I got a late-night call from little Sis telling me there wasn't much
time...to hurry to the Hospital. I hung up the phone and went back to sleep thinking it was a dream. I awoke with a start a few minutes later and raced down to
Emergency.
The last conversation I had with my Mom was about these terrible headaches I had been experiencing a few weeks before. I met my older brother outside her room. I hadn't seen him cry since I was 5 years old. My Dad looked a 120years old. I quietly entered Mom's hospital room...slipped my hand into hers and gave it a gentle squeeze. She had a fractured skull, a broken nose, two black eyes, a broken arm, a broken pelvis, a fractured shin and a broken foot.
She turned her head, opened her eyes...offered me a frail smile and said, "Oh Stone, how are your headaches?"
